Ending With A Performance

Last weekend, I performed my ''Wordless Song with Lyrics'' to a small crowd at the Bridge Progressive Arts Initiative. The cozy room was filled with aesthetic colors and sonic pleasance, qualities that were a shift from the first round of projects as well as something I enjoyed. The evening began with installation pieces, where the audience was able to interact and influence the sounds and lights being produced. The first piece brought us outside into the warm, late spring evening as the sun went down and set the tone for the rest of the exhibition. I am happy to report that my performance went well and I am glad it came together in time.
My experience in Photosonic Composition has given me opportunities to explore what art can be and what I can create with skills I already have. I discovered that “sonic pleasance” doesn’t have to sound like warm chords; dissonance and randomness can be worthwhile and enjoyable too. I am often hard on myself and overly critical of my art, so this class was a nice way to practice appreciating what I make more.
